Al-Maahad Al-Mahmud established on Friday, 29 Rabi ‘al-Akhir 1355 corresponding June 19, 1936. Given the name of Al-Maahad Al-Mahmud was to commemorate His Majesty the Tunku Mahmud, the son of the late Al-Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Mukarramul Shah. Maktab Mahmud adopt two measures of educational curriculum Integrated Curriculum for Secondary Schools Curriculum Ministry of Education and Religion. The history of its inception in 1936 until 1998 there were only a Maktab Mahmud Kedah Darul Aman Maktab Mahmud Alor Star.
